Getting married in a brewery: Steph & Joe’s Indie dream Wedding at Wylam Brewery, Newcastle

This wedding was truly one to remember, and as an alternative wedding photographer, this day made my little heart sing.

Steph and Joe are two indie kids in love, and their wedding completely represented that. From the cool get up to their wedding signage, everything fit them both perfectly.

PARTY HARD IN A BREWERY

First, let’s talk about how incredible Wylam Brewery is?! My jaw was simply on the floor when I first saw this place. The 1920s building is not only modern but has a stunning industrial edge that really makes it stand out from the crowd. The fairy light curtain is truly the most magical back drop for a wedding ceremony and looks even more cosy in the evening. During your reception, there is even a working gin bar for all your guests to enjoy. Cheers!

PERSONALISE YOUR VOWS

Steph & Joe’s ceremony was an absolute tearjerker. Not only did Joe cry when he clocked his bride-to-be, but they also had personalised vows. Unlike traditional vows, which follow a set script, personalized vows are tailored to your unique relationship. By writing your own vows, you can speak directly from the heart, making the ceremony even more personal and emotional.

LOOKING GOOD FOR LESS

Finding an affordable wedding dress doesn't mean sacrificing style or quality. Steph picked a stunning RIXO number to be her wedding dress. By exploring affordable alternatives, you can find a perfect dress that fits both your budget and your vision for your big day. The relaxed floaty garment suited her perfectly, and paired with Joe’s Ben Sherman suit, they looked like they should be on the front cover of a vinyl.

ALTERNATIVE SIGNAGE IDEAS

Instead of buying all new wedding signage for their wedding, they picked a more sustainable option and used prints from their home. I absolutely LOVED this choice, and although they weren’t fully personalised, it was still personal to the two of them. This approach not only saves money but also adds a personal touch that reflects your style and story as a couple. Plus, after the wedding, these artworks can be cherished as meaningful reminders of your big day.

KEEP YOUR GROUP SHOTS FUN

Keeping group shots fun at a wedding is all about creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Instead of sticking rigidly to posed, formal shots, I encourage laughter and spontaneity by having everyone interact naturally. Let’s stick some music on, muck around and have a bloody good time. At Wylam Brewery, we frolicked around the place and had a ton of fun doing it!
